Overcoming Death - Saadh Sangat - Company of Holy

Saadh – The Saint is pure. He is not troubled by any evil as he has risen over it. His aura is absolutely immaculate. And one who comes in contact with him feels the same. It is believed that the company makes lot of difference in one’s attitude, thought process and behavior. Thus, Sangat – Company of holy save an individual from Death as he becomes pure in their company as said by Dhan Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji in following words:
(In the Saadh Sangat, you shall become absolutely pure, and the noose of death shall be cut away.)

Saadh has reached a state above all which we call matter or matters. In simple words it is believed that he has risen above the worldly affairs. But ‘Baba Nanak’ was not like that, that is thought He was attuned The Lord but He did not give up on people of world. Else why He would have roamed in the world to spread the message of The One? Why He would have brought together His Followers – Sikhs to form a formidable force in three centuries to resist the imperial atrocities. Where did such compassion and vision come from? Well, Baba Nanak had already crossed the ocean and that explains everything. Also, one who is at other side knows all what it required to cross the ocean hence their company will salvage an individual as said by Dhan Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji in following words:
(In the Saadh Sangat, cross over the world-ocean, and the noose of death shall be cut away.)

Saadh is selfless, he lost himself, he forgot himself and only then he became one with The One. And as per Dhan Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji only selfless service to Saadh can save an individual as per following words:
(Do seva, selfless service, for the Holy Saints, and the noose of Death shall be cut away)

Guruji has made one thing very clear in above words, service done with selfishness has no meaning. And Guruji’s gives credits to The Saint (Dhan Shri Guru Raam Das Ji just devoted Himself to selfless services of Dhan Shri Guru Amar Das Ji) for showing Him the way to cut the noose of Death:
(The Saint has shown me the Way, and the noose of Death has been cut away.)

In section ‘Nature of Death’, ‘Shabad’ by Kabir Ji (Salok Bhagat Kabir Ji Ke – Ang 1367 Dhan Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji) calls Messenger of Death as hunters having count of thousand. What does it mean? There is an ‘army’ of messenger’s of death. And if this army has to be defeated a mortal needs an army. And Saadh Sangat, having God’s Devotees and Spiritual Warriors, is such an army to defeat the Army of Death as per following words of Dhan Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji:
(With the army of God's devotees, and Shakti, the power of meditation, I have snapped the noose of the fear of death.)
(In the Sanctuary of the spiritual warrior, the account books of the Messenger of Death are torn up.)

Once the war or battle is won, it brings peace and happiness. And if Death is defeated that has to be heavenly peace. Why such peace is platonic in nature? What can be a better feeling for a living being if he realizes that he has overcome The Death? That’s why Guruji re-iterates in following words the glory of Saadh Sangat and inspires every mortal to do Company of Holy which helps and individual to cut noose of Death and to achieve celestial peace:
(In the Saadh Sangat, the noose of Death is cut, O Nanak, and one intuitively merges in celestial peace.)

So, what should mortals wish for? As such mortals wish have no meanings since they are short sightedness. And under influence of ‘Maya’ all the wishes are selfish in nature. But if possible pray HIM to render Company of Holy. If prayers are heard, one will ‘Join the Society of Saints’. And joining the society will awaken the destiny, how? The answer can be found in following words of Dhan Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji:
(Join the Society of the Saints, and you shall not have to go down the path of Death.)
(Meeting with the humble beings, O Siblings of Destiny, the Messenger of Death is conquered.)
(Do the Saadh Sangat; one shall be rid of the cycle of birth and death.)

Saint is gracious. And his grace releases an individual from cycles of birth and death as per the following words of Dhan Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji:
(By the Grace of the Saints, one is released from birth and death.)
(By the Grace of the Saint, one escapes the Messenger of Death.)
