Overcoming Death - Having Faith
‘Have Faith in God’ is termed used often in conversation especially to console individuals going through hard time. Atheists just ignore it since for them ‘God’ does not exists. And as per their argument having faith on something non-existing is just not possible. Well, Gurbaani differs with such beliefs, and as per Gurbaani faith is the best aspect of human evolution which can happen to an individual. Faith comes to those who accept and gives up denial mode. Faith is when someone heads bow at his own. Faith is when all rationality and logics cannot provide answers to what happens. Faith is when an individual ask the question ‘Why it has happened to me’ and then he does all the thinking, introspection and eventually moves his head affirmation, ‘Yes, it cannot be me, it has to be something else which is beyond my mind’ and he surrenders his mind. Faith is when one dies in Shabad as per following words of Dhan Shri Guru Amar Das Ji:
The point is we all
posses faith, but who we put faith on is important? Gurbaani asks everyone to
put faith on Guru. And are we doing it? We will put faith on worldly power,
wealth, relatives, friends but how long they can help us. Are they permanent?
We know the answer but weakness in us makes us to surrender at ephemeral
entities. So what is permanent, The Shabad – The Word of Guru.
And who is the source of Shabad, Dhan Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Have faith in Him and Death will not pain you.

(When one's mind dies in the Shabad, one radiates faith and confidence, shedding egotism and corruption.)
मनु सबदि मरै परतीति होइ हउमै तजे विकार ॥ (When one's mind dies in the Shabad, one radiates faith and confidence, shedding egotism and corruption.)
Faith is when ‘Bhai Lehna’ just does
what is asked by ‘Baba Nanak’, neither contradicting nor arguing Him.
Faith is when ‘Bhai Amar Das’ serves ‘Dhan Shri Guru Angad Dev Ji’ with
all devotion without thinking the outcome of actions as outcome will be taken
care by Guru. Faith is when ‘Bhai Jheta Ji’ with all humblenss
says ‘O! Satguru (True Guru) how can ignorant like me can understand Your
ways’ to ‘Dhan Shri Guru Amar Das Ji’ while seving at ‘Bowli
Sahib’. Faith is when ‘Baba Arjan Dev Ji’ goes to Lahore as
per will of ‘Dhan Shri Guru Raam Das Ji’ knowing that ‘Great Guru’ knows state
of every ones mind and will call him when the time is right. Faith is when Sikhs
of Dhan
Shri Guru Hargobind Ji fights a battle with Mughal even being
outnumbered that Guruji will make them victorious. Faith is when Baba
Har Rai Ji listens to His Guru Words and remains soft
hearted for others through out His life. Faith is when ‘Bala
Guru Dhan Shri Guru Harkrishan Ji’ walks towards Delhi in tender age
knowing the atrocious regime cannot touch Him. Faith is when Sikhs
of Dhan
Shri Guru Teg Bhadur Ji are unmoved when they are martyred. Faith is
when 40
Khalsa fought ferociously with an army of one million believing that in the presence of their Guru,
death cannot touch them. Faith is when Barren Forest of Maachiwara echoes
with ‘Mitr Pyare Nu Haal Muridaan Ka Kehna – Please convey the plight of
wretched one to my dear friend Lord’. Faith is when above words makes
your eyes wet in gratitude. And Dhan Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji blesses
faithful in following words:
मंनै जम कै साथि न जाइ ॥
(The faithful do not have to go with the Messenger of Death)
Guruji

and once merger happen how death can touch him:
गुर परचै मनु साचि समाइ ॥प्रणवति नानकु कालु न खाइ ॥४९॥

consumed by death.)
